Partnership with the International Women and Environment Conference 2013

HKC13 is happy to announce that we are partnering with the International Women and Environment Conference 2013, which will take place at The Excelsior Hotel in Hong Kong from 23 - 26 May 2013. During this period, over one hundred distinguished guests will be invited to Hong Kong from around the world. We will combine the themes of art and the environment to appeal to a wide range of aesthetic and social interests.

Behind the Scenes

We’d like to give you a glimpse into the production and management of HKC13 as we prepare to host an outstanding art fair next spring.

For 2013 we have selected The Excelsior Hotel as the venue for our Hong Kong art fair. The Hong Kong Contemporary team has been working in the art field in Hong Kong since 1994. After numerous visiting and re-visiting all possible venue locations in Hong Kong since 2009. We have selected The Excelsior Hotel for this venue from a sea of different locations including hotels and non-hotels.

The Excelsior, Hong Kong offers the following advantages:

Accessibility, visibility and traffic - three qualities of supreme importance.
The Excelsior is located in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong’s busiest shopping district, which has a minimum of 600,000 visitors every weekend. The hotel is five minutes away from the Hong Kong Convention Centre, where the Art Basel Hong Kong exhibition and Christie’s auction will be held.

Competitive cost - As we have been in the art business since 1994, we understand very well the challenges all galleries face, and we know that controlling costs is a very important factor. Rather than a 7 stars hotel that can provide an even better environment than The Excelsior Hotel. We choose The Excelsior Hotel because it can provide the best venue locations with the most competitive cost. This means the entry fee can remain at the best price for all of the attending parties.

Through our previous experience we have come to understand the needs of galleries from around the world. We have drawn upon our expertise to ensure that Hong Kong Contemporary offers galleries the most cost-effective business opportunity in Hong Kong, at the right time and in the right place.
